Download NGXPlay / CarBridge [UPDATED 2020]

“Have you ever wanted to enjoy your most favorite apps like Youtube, Netflix, Videos and Facebook on CarPlay? If so, do not hesitate to download NGXPlay/CarBridge –  We have made it easy for you with WheelPal App”

Firstly, NGXPlay and CarBridge are two different apps that give you the same results; allowing you to download any app you want there to be on your infotainment system. Here we will talk about the followings:

  1. What is NGXPlay and what is CarBridge
  2. How NGXPlay works and how CarBridge is working
  3. How to download NGXPlay and CarBridge

NGXPLAY

NGXPlay is a tweak for CarPlay that enables you to have third-party apps that are not officially available in Apple CarPlay. Certainly, that means you can use YouTube, Facebook, Netflix, Messenger, Safari or Google browser and many more with NGXPlay. Then how to download NGXPlay? Here it is…

Download NGXPlay

As I previously told you, NGXPlay is a tweak that allows us to have any app outside the official CarPlay environment. Since it is to bring you unofficial apps right on to the display of iPhone/iPad, Apple firmware doesn’t allow NGXPlay to come into play. Therefore you need to make sure that your iPhone’s /iPad’s firmware is compatible to download NGXPlay. To put it simple, for that you need to break all the restrictions imposed by Apple. That breaking is called technically, “Jail-breaking”

Now the opportunity of adding all your desired apps to your CarPlay has been given for iPhone users with any iOS version including iOS 13.5 and higher including iOS 14, with WheelPal app. Some twitter messages which were posted by the Checkra1n Jailbreak team members, mentioning that they were able to Jailbreak iOS 14 beta 1, provides us reasons to say that iOS 14 too will be working with WheelPal successfully.

So we can brief this WheelPal app as an all in one solution. It provides all the apps, repositories, tools, step guides and instructions, and everything to guide you to jailbreak your phone, and to get all the desired apps to CarPlay using NGXPlay.

Download NGXPlay without jailbreak

NGXPlay can only be achieved only if your iPhone/iPad is jailbreakable. Months ago, jailbreak was only available for iOS 13 and below. But now you can jailbreak your iPhone/iPad even if it is running on iOS 13.5 or higher (iOS14 beta). If you have already jailbroken your iPhone/iPad, downloading NGXPlay is just a few taps away. All you need to do is add sources (Repo – BigBoss) through the Cydia app you have on your Home Screen. If not, you may get the assistance of a third-party app like TweakMo to jailbreak and download Cydia first. TweakMo is an app that comes with an array of jailbreak apps, tweaks, and customization. You can download it in two taps.

BigBoss URL – http://apt.thebigboss.org/repofiles/cydia (Add this in add sources URL space)

However, although we said that having NGXPlay is not possible without jailbreak we would like to let you know of a possible way of getting it. It’s the app called “InCar” (Please note that this is not NGXPlay but an alternative way of enjoying almost all the apps as a CarPlay simulator.) This comes with its own limitations. However the app allows you to experience CarPlay/Android User Interface with larger icons on your mobile phone. Read more on InCar App.

NGXPlay iOS14 and iOS13 – How to Download?

The most awaited iOS version, Apple iOS 14 was released on the 16th, September 2020. Since iOS 14 beta 1 has been successfully Jailbroken by Checkra1n, we are confident to say that NGXPlay is  available to download for iOS 14. But remember, NGXPlay is available only if a certain iOS version has a stable jailbreak.

And when it comes to iOS13, although Apple attempted at their best to heighten its security with iOS 13 and the latest iOS13.5, the expert jailbreak uncOver team has successfully been able to root access the iOS 13 and higher versions. Therefore, all the iOS 13 version users are now able to download NGXPlay right onto their iDevice.

Step Guide for downloading NGXPlay:

  1. Jailbreak your iOS 13 device using uncOver jailbreak tool and you can use Checkra1n for jailbreaking iOS14.
  2. Install Cydia
  3. In Cydia app,
    • Go to Sources>tap edit> add> insert URL
                        URL= BigBoss URL – http://apt.thebigboss.org/repofiles/cydia

  4. Now go on search and search for NGXPlay
  5. Then select and install NGXPlay
  6. Congratulations. Now you are free to launch and enjoy NGXPlay by enabling your favorite apps on the application.

CARBRIDGE

CarBridge is just another tweak that provides almost the same features as NGXPlay and it also requires a jailbroken iPhone/iPad. The good news is, now jailbreak is available for the devices running up to the latest iOS 14.

Note :  iOS 12.4.7, iOS 12.4.6, iOS 12.4.5, iOS 12.4.4, iOS 12.4.3 and iOS 12.4.2 versions are not compatible with Unc0ver v5.0.0.  and iOS14 beta 1 is jailbreakable with Checkra1n.

DOWNLOAD CARBRIDGE IOS14 (WORKS WITH ANY IOS VERSION WITH A JAILBREAK)

You may download CarBridge mainly in two ways. It is either by donating to CarBridge or by downloading via Cydia. If you are interested in getting CarBridge at a few dollars cost, click Donate CarBridge .

But if you wanted to get it via Cydia, you can simply follow the steps:

  1. Grab your jailbreak compatible iPhone/iPad
  2. Before everything begins, back up the phone Because, if anything happens to your phone during the process, it will lose internal data.
  3. Next you’ll need to Jailbreak your iPhone. To do this, install Impactor and drag the jailbreak .ipa file to Cydia Impactor.
  4. Next click on Cydia
  5. In Cydia install these: -Rocketbootstrap, Applist  & Filza
  6. Perferenceloader – is not there to see in Cydia, so you’ll need to navigate in your source tab ex. Big Boss / System PerferenceLoader
  7. Install the leftyfl1p.deb file (You’ll need Filza to install this)
  8. Congratulations !. Now you have installed leftyfl1p.deb file and free to use any app on CarPlay

NGXPlay and CarBridge thus bring a whole new experience in the CarPlay environment for most of the iPhone users with the latest jailbreaks for iOS 13.5 and higher. However, we we would like you to stay with us as we would be talking more of the newly released NGXPlay iOS14 and CarBridge iOS14.

How to set up CarPlay apps outside the default

Even though there is a list of CarPlay supported apps, there are some mostly used visual based apps like YouTube, Facebook, Videos, which are not available for CarPlay by default.

Yet, there is a solution for getting those apps with the WheelPal app . However, you need to jailbreak your phone for this.

CarPlay Alternatives

Alternatives come in a very few forms. It is either by up

Since CarPlay is available for a limited number of iOS devices in a limited number of countries, there are thousands of people who miss the CarPlay experience. Targeting them, InCar app has been developed and anyone can experience CarPlay display on the landscape mode of their iDevice. You can not connect it to your car’s infotainment system since it is just a simulation of real CarPlay. Still, you can use the apps on the menu in your phone which ease phone operations while driving.

Is CarPlay Worth?

Is CarPlay worth it? This is what comes to our minds most of the time. Well, let me start this way. Have you ever thought of having an assistant while driving? Or a companion who will answer your silly questions just to kill the time while driving?

Have you ever thought that it would be nice to have everything coming online just with a voice command?

Well , YES. The answer is yes to me and of course yes to you. Even though smartphones have evaded society, these are still dreams to most of us.

We all have lost our way at least once while driving just because we couldn’t read the google map properly while driving alone. In that case, we find it really frustrating on the roads regardless of the hours we would like to spend driving at night. It would be very much helpful if we can see the map without looking at the phone while driving.

Have you noticed the tragic accidents we come across from the news these days? The numbers of these accidents illustrate the danger of taking calls and texting while driving. Stats say that at any given time throughout the day, approximately 660,000 drivers are attempting to use their phones while driving. This is so dangerous not only to the driver but also to the others. Look at the below facts.

The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year.

Nearly 390,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving.[1]

These facts are alarming and show the danger of using the phone. Maybe a one phone call you take while driving will be the darkest thing to a person.

So for all these problems, Apple/Android has introduced a super option and it is called CarPlay/ Android Auto.

CarPlay means having an assistant while you drive. It  allows your phone’s interface to be on the car’s inbuilt infotainment system. Having your phone’s interface on the car’s infotainment

System means, the basic things that you used to do with your mobile before are now possible with your car. Does this mean that you can answer your phone calls without the phone ,but with the car’s infotainment system?Yes!

Does this mean that you can view your map without the phone, but with the car’s infotainment system?Yes!

Can we text using Apple CarPlay? Why not?

All these answers must consist of the word, without actually moving a finger.

Actually you do not need to grab the phone or touch the car display to do all these things. Just your voice is enough to do all these things and for more, while driving!

Just say the word and it is done with CarPlay/Android auto.

CarPlay/Android Auto is the  technology that makes all these dreams we talked earlier, a truth in front of our eyes.

Apple carPlay has the assistant named “Siri” while Android has Google Assistant. These smart assistants will follow your voice commands and  reveal the answer accordingly. Plus you can install CarPlay Apps for more advanced experiences.

Since this technology is so smart and getting popular among users, famous car makers have already begun to insert this option into their car designs. Abarth, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, BMW, Suzuki and many more support CarPlay. Want to see the latest list of Apple CarPlay compatible cars?

Now you might be wondering if your car supports CarPlay or Android auto? Well in that case, pay a short visit (link with keyword)

All in all, considering the above facts we talked about throughout the article, it is undoubtedly certain that Apple CarPlay is worth it and not only worth, but also will be a day-to-day tool in near future.

CarPlay Maps – How to use

What is the first thing to hit your mind when you heard the phrase “CarPlay Maps”? Most probably the Apple Maps I guess. The reason is, Apple Maps is the default CarPlay map solution and only map which supports Apple CarPlay at the moment. However, Things are changing pretty fast in the CarPlay community to overcome its rival Android Auto. CarPlay Google Maps and CarPlay Waze support will be added soon to the CarPlay so that Apple can overcome one of the biggest advantages of Android Auto over Apple CarPlay.

As you may already know, Android Auto is ahead of Apple CarPlay in some scenarios such as advanced Google Assistant, Google Maps support and many Android Auto compatible apps. Even in this stage, many users still prefer CarPlay over Android Auto due to the clean user interface, reliability & hardware performance and the less laggy responsiveness of Apple CarPlay. But, they needed a better map solution than Apple Maps. Google Maps on Apple CarPlay is not a new requirement. It was there since the first release of CarPlay. But, this is the first time Apple has listened to their users’ requirement on CarPlay Google Maps and trying to implement it.

Google Maps on CarPlay

If you compare Apple CarPlay vs Android Auto, what will be the most weighted option you’ll consider? Map support, of course. It’s a must when you are on the road and relying on your infotainment system to guide you to the end of a journey. And many end users agree to the fact that Google Maps is far better than Apple Maps. In this situation, it’s a win for everyone when Apple decided to show Google Maps on your CarPlay home.

Waze on CarPlay

Waze will soon appear on your CarPlay supported infotainment system along with Google Maps. This also a product of Google, but the interface and features are totally different except the basic map features. You may read more on CarPlay Waze support and features, get to know which will suit you better.

How to Get Google Maps / Waze on CarPlay

There are mainly two options you can choose from. The first option update to iOS 12 and it will arrive on the month of September 2018 and will be available for all iOS users without an extra effort. The second option is jailbreaking. As you know, you can escalate privilege to the iOS system by jailbreaking. After jailbreaking, you are free from limitations imposed by Apple.

If you prefer the stock iOS without much trouble, just wait for iOS 12 public release as Apple announced at WWDC18 they will add support to third-party navigation apps including Google Maps and Waze. Update to iOS 12 and enjoy the Google Maps and Waze with CarPlay.

If you are a tech guy and need CarPlay maps alternative so that you can get Google Maps, Waze or any app on your CarPlay display, you can have it by jailbreaking your iPhone. Jailbreak the device and install NGXPlay or CarBridge. Get to know NGXPlay and CarBridge better so that they will serve you better. Using NGXPlay or CarBridge, access any iPhone app including Google Maps and Waze on your infotainment display.

CarPlay Maps Alternatives to Use Google Maps

If you are a heavy Google Maps user and can’t wait for the official CarPlay Google Maps update with iOS 12, you still have some options to consider. Well, some are very basic options. But if you need to focus on the road while getting know your route and traffic details, you will definiately appreciate these options.

1. Phone Holder

Don’t blame me. Many users still use these to get to their destination without a hassle. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or no infotainment system support at all, this will serve you at hard times.

2. Head-Up Display (HUD)

Advantages of head-up displays are no additional mounting is needed such as phone holders and easy to focus on the road because you can project the map details directly to your windscreen. There are some HUD systems and HUD apps which require additional equipment to work as expected, but many apps will work fine just with your smartphone.

3. Mirror your Smartphone to the Infotainment System using HDMI to Mini USB Cables

You can mirror your smartphone screen to the infotainment system’s display using HDMI to Mini USB cables. It’s a good way to see map details, but you can’t control the smartphone with this technique because it only mirrors your smartphone’s display to the infotainment system’s display.

Now you have realized, CarPlay Maps does not represent the Apple Maps OR there is no such thing as CarPlay compatible maps. It could be the map you chose. Prepare for the traffic, be there on time.

But, imagine you lose your CarPlay support in the middle of nowhere in the long drive on the highway and miss your exit, because your map is not responsive? There are many such common CarPlay issues. Many iOS 12 beta users report that they are having CarPlay auto disconnect issues when using the reverse / backup camera. This issue is already reported to Apple, so that we hope that it’ll be fixed on iOS 12. iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 6 & iPhone SE users confirmed this iOS 12 CarPlay issue so far.

iOS 11 CarPlay Issues

  • CarPlay Issues of iOS 11.4

Connectivity Issues

Have you ever faced the scenario “CarPlay supported, but not working”? It could be due to the connectivity issues on CarPlay. I suggest you take a look at How to Set up CarPlay article and continue your reading here as I will guide you through some CarPlay issue fixing tips and tricks.

Siri Issues

CarPlay helps drivers to keep eyes on the road, hands on the wheel while being connected and informed of everything. To make that a reality, it integrates one of the smartest Artificial Intelligence based personal assistants, Siri. To work as expected, Siri needs a stable internet connection. Otherwise, functions of Siri will be limited and some features may not work at all.

Therefore, if you feel like Siri is struggling or not working as expected, take a minute and check if your mobile data connection is fast enough for Siri to work. This could happen in long drives as mobile signals may vary from time to time according to the location.

Wireless CarPlay Issues

Does your car support wireless CarPlay? Lucky for you, you don’t have to bring your lightning cable everywhere. However, in most cases, wired CarPlay solutions will work better than wireless CarPlay. The reason is, wired CarPlay connection has a better data transfer speed than the wireless CarPlay. Also, wireless CarPlay could expose some interferences unlike with the cable solution. Therefore, if you ever feel slow response or latency in updates (such as map updates), switch to lightning cable and feel the difference.

Fixes for CarPlay Issues

If you have already faced an issue with your infotainment system or CarPlay, this section is where you look  at the first sight or search for . But, I suggest you take a quick read on this article from the beginning, as some iOS version related CarPlay issues have to be fixed by Apple with an update and we can’t do anything about it other than waiting for the official update with the fix.

However, for many CarPlay related common issues and questions, these tips will work like a charm. These tips are not in a sequential order.Yet you can use as you wish.

Tips to solve CarPlay Issues

  • Tip 1 : Restart your iPhone and the car. If this is your first time with CarPlay, make sure that your car or aftermarket infotainment system supports CarPlay.
  • Tip 2 : Use Apple certified lightning cable. Some cheaper lightning cables do not support higher data transfer speeds.
  • Tip 3 : Check if your infotainment system has a dedicated USB port for CarPlay support. CarPlay will not work with other USB ports if the manufacturer assigned a dedicated port. If no dedicated USB port is available, try using a different USB port.
  • Tip 4 : Check if Siri is functioning.
  • Tip 5 : Check your Restrictions. Go to Settings → General → Restrictions and check if there’s any restrictions enabled for the CarPlay. Disable Restrictions if needed.
  • Tip 6 : If you face issues with Wireless CarPlay, try with wired CarPlay and see if the issue is fixed.
  • Tip 7 : Make sure that  your infotainment system and iPhone run on the latest firmware version. Update to the latest version if available.
  • Tip 8 : Forget the car on Settings and try connecting again. Go to Settings → General → CarPlay and tap the car name under My Cars and tap Forget This Car
  • Tip 9 : Reset your iPhone. This could lead to data loss. Therefore, take a backup of your data and please find a proper guide before proceeding.

How CarPlay Works?

Cars have been the closest friend for many of the people for more than a century. It has been with them in all ups and downs for sure. Smiles and tears or hills and valleys. But with the advent of smartphones into their life, the trend seemed in a slightly different shape making cars the second in the priority list. But the smartphone makers like Apple and Android (Google) soon identified what big change that car and smartphone could do if they met together. As a result, they came with CarPlay and Android Auto. Well, then what CarPlay is exactly? How CarPlay works? What benefits does it bring you? These questions will pop up in your mind for sure I know. But don’t worry. The answers are just waiting for your scan below.

CarPlay is the feature introduced by Apple to let iOS users mirror their phones on to the car’s inbuilt infotainment system while Android Auto is the term used by Google for the same feature in their phones. This was first introduced by Apple in 2014 and the feature was available in few car manufacture models. The idea behind this was to enable you to do almost everything you did on the phone right on the in car communication system.

Well, then how does CarPlay work?

How it works, is the most interesting part of the CarPlay concept. It doesn’t ask you to involve in complicated stuff but plugging your iPhone into the dedicated USB slot in the car via lightning cable. Or if the car supports bluetooth CarPlay just Then, all the rest is ready on the car’s display system. This works fine with the car’s knobs, voice controls and responds at your dictation.

But before you begin anything on CarPlay, make sure your device meets the iDevice compatibility for CarPlay

Ok. Imagine you have already set up CarPlay in your car.  Please click how to set up CarPlay if you are not sure to make it happen.

How CarPlay apps work

But not all the apps you run on iOS are able to be used on your car system. Apps like Apple maps. Music, podcasts and other main features like calls and messages are originally available there while other Apple CarPlay compatible apps have to be downloaded to your iPhone in order to run it. Apple CarPlay is a product that is intended to minimize driver’s distractions while enjoying his iOS. Therefore it is highly unlikely that fancy games like Angry bird would appear in the CarPlay environment.

Let Siri take the course

Siri is at your beck and call. All you need to do is just ask Siri. Imagine you wanted to play the favorite song or text to a friend while driving, just ask Siri to do it. She will also read your received messages, help you find a destination or even make a call.

CarPlay, From Now to Next

CarPlay for now, takes the reputation for having more than 400 car models being compatible with it. Meantime, we could see that most of the car models like Honda Accord 2018 have already begun to come up with supported devices. And the aftermarket solutions like Pioneer have stepped into adding that feature in their latest devices.

In WWDC, June 2018 Apple announced that they have added third party maps to CarPlay making it more enjoyable for CarPlay users. And we also noticed in iOS 12 release, Apple has been very much into AR and Hologram apps. Perhaps it may be a hint that Apple is to work more on CarPlay with AR integration in the recent years to come. What if an integration could tell you about a special offer available in a particular restaurant or a coffee shop as you are to pass the place. Amazing isn’t it?

Therefore, we can expect that CarPlay will continue to amaze us in future too with more CarPlay features.

CarPlay Vs Android Auto 2020
