What is Android Auto and why should you have it?

What is Android Auto? Many people ask this question as it is something new. But the answers given on most of the blogs and articles are a little ambiguous. Therefore, I decided on giving you a clear picture on the above question in a simple practical way.

What is Android Auto (AutoPlay)?

This is a feature by Google, that allows you to mirror your Android device into the car’s infotainment system.  That means once the Android device is paired with the car’s infotainment system or head up display, the system displays its supported apps and features right on the display enabling him to operate the apps. These apps include calls, messages, Google play music, maps, podcasts and many more Android Auto compatible apps. This enables the driver to have a safe and a focused driving experience while operating his own Android device.

Android Auto currently supports more than 400 car models including the latest release of Mazda CX-9. Most of the Mazda vehicles starting from 2019, will have this feature enabled. And Google, having partnered with Volvo, is planning to get the future cars compatible for Android Auto. With all this news, it is obvious that many of the car manufacturers are working on making this feature available soon. Why Should You use this feature?

“David was upset and frustrated as he can not inform his manager that he is getting late due to severe traffic; because he knew the danger he would meet if he grabbed the phone.”

The story loudly says the importance of this feature. Imagine you too, had to make an important call or text while you were driving just like in David’s situation. You would remain the same as David did. wouldn’t you? Because you too, know that operating mobile phones while driving could lead to serious accidents. This is where the practicality of AutoPlay feature emerges.
